The Portland Based non-profit Youth Ending Slavery (YES) is an organization run five Saint Mary’s Academy (SMA) student that, by teaching and raising awareness, is trying to end slavery, both domestically and abroad.

Born out of the Human Rights Club at SMA in 2012, the organization was had several presidents and circulating boards over the years, all entirely of students.

Their mission is “to combat modern-day slavery by raising awareness about its prevalence, empowering youth to be advocates for change, and promoting legislation that will provide aid for victims and prevent future trafficking.” The YES board encourages students to start a chapter, plan an event or get involved in order to fulfill this mission.
