On Friday, Sept. 4, The Catlin Gabel Varsity Volleyball team faced De La Salle North Catholic, resulting in their first league win.
Catlin Gabel endured various emotions throughout the four sets of the game (which are similar to quarters in a basketball game). Starting confidently in the first set, the team became fatigued in the second, losing to De La Salle 21-25. They ended on a high note, winning both the third and fourth set 25-21.
“I think the team really played together and overcame adversities to get the win,” said team captain Carly Rose Howard ‘16. “It was an emotional night, but we were able to put everything aside to accomplish the win as a team.”
Despite the fact that they have only played a total of three games (pre-season and league), the team is highly optimistic as they continue into the coming season. After winning to OES on Sept. 8th, the team’s next game will be on Sept. 17, against Riverdale High School at Catlin Gabel.
