Oregon’s Vote on Marijuana

Daily News Local News News

On November 4 Oregon will be voting on many important topics, including the legalization of marijuana. However, before this date, it is important voters know how the legalization of marijuana has affected states that have already legalized it’s use.

With the legalization of marijuana, many new products  have been created, including a new trend of marijuana-infused candy. The candy looks strikingly similar to normal kinds and therefore is nearly impossible to tell apart. This has caused worry that children may end up receiving altered candies in their Halloween bags.

Media sources have released news regarding Colorado’s legalization since their amendment was passed in 2012.  The Denver police have issued a statement reading, “…with Halloween fast approaching, Colorado citizens are in a unique position in the country, watching our kid’s candy for marijuana edibles.”

According to Fox News, there has already been at least one instance of a parent accidently giving their child candy laced with the drug.

Whether or not this potential risk will influence Oregonians votes, will be decided in less than a week.
