Sports Recap 10/11-10/18

Soccer:

Varsity Boys: The team looked to rebound this past week after suffering a 5-0 homecoming loss. The boys played at Portland Christian and won overwhelmingly with a 9-1 victory. Former JV player Victor Van Alebeek ‘18 scored four goals in his second varsity level match. The blue and white will look to continue their winning strategy this coming week at Portland Adventist Academy and De La Salle North.

Varsity Girls: The girls suffered a tough 2-1 defeat at homecoming two weeks ago and looked to recover this past week. They were successful in winning a 7-0 game at Riverdale, and the win set the stage for two games this coming week. The first will be at Rainer and the second will be a home game against Clatskanie on Friday afternoon.

Junior Varsity Boys: The Eagles had two games last week. First was a game against Central Catholic where the boys won 4-1. Second, a match against Milwaukie High School where Catlin dominated with a final 5-0 score. This week they play their final game at Portland Adventist Academy.

Junior Varsity Girls: The girls played twice this past week. First a game at home against Central Catholic resulting in a 1-0 loss. Second, a second home game against Clackamas ending in a 1-1 tie. Catlin will play their final game at home on Wednesday versus West Linn.

Junior Varsity II Boys: The boys had one game this past week, a disappointing 7-1 loss to Hillsboro High on Tuesday. They will play twice this week at home against Riverdale and away against OES.

Cross Country:

The Varsity Boys took part in the George Fox Invite Race in which there are 6A schools along with elite cross country squads. The boys set many PR’s and were able to place 10th out of 22 teams. Next week both girls and boys teams will run in the Districts meet to solidify a spot at state.

Volleyball:

Varsity Volleyball: The team had both a tournament and a game this past week. First a Hood River Valley tournament in which the girls were semi-finalists. Second a Senior Night win against Portland Adventist Academy, in which they won 3-0. The Eagles have their final league game away at rivals OES on Monday.

Junior Varsity Volleyball: The team had one game this past week. A 2-0 victory versus Portland Christian. The team will play a rivalry games at OES on Monday.
